The Chartists Remastered & Expanded - Album Launch + New Gig Alert
Wynford Jones & I (Geoff Cripps) were thrilled with the special evening we hosted at The Retreat, Llanover, to mark the official release date of what was the very first Steam Pie Records release and has now become the 22nd Steam Pie record.
Together with our special guests The Blessed Crow, we performed songs from the original Chartists song cycle coupled with two songs from the BBC Radio 4 series Folk For The Job - a series produced by the late Herbert Williams whose daughter was in the audience to hear "The Day The Taff Vale Opened" - the lyric written by her late father.
The event was made extra special and emotional for us both as amongst our guests were Geri Thomas who made such a signal contribution to The Chartists together with our remastering engineer Tony Williams, his musical partner Huw Williams plus Louisa Phillips.
Coupled with the wonderful food and drink served by Simon and Amy of The Retreat it was the most memorable night.
We are pleased to say that the first review of the album is now in - and its a four star job from the great Rock'n'Reel magazine - you can get your copy here :- https://www.rock-n-reel.co.uk/sales.html

We are also pleased to announce that we shall be sharing the stage with The Blessed Crow once again when Newport Folk Club present Wynford Jones & Geoff Cripps + The Blessed Crow in concert at St. Cadoc's Church, Caerleon on Friday 6th November. Book your tickets now!
