THE CHARTISTS : REMASTERED & EXPANDED
Wynford Jones and Geoff Cripps are pleased to announce that their very first Chartists album, originally released in May 1982 and the very first Steam Pie Record, will be released in remastered and expanded format on Friday 18th September and available via their Bandcamp page (https://laufordcripps.bandcamp.com/album/the-chartists-remastered-expanded ) and from all good record retailers.
The original concept album told the story of the 1839 Chartists Rising and the march on Newport by the Monmouthshire colliers and on this new version the original eight album tracks are accompanied by four songs from the 1984 BBC Radio 4 series "Folk For The Job" and full band versions of three of the original songs.
Wynford and Geoff are happy to recognise the exceptional work of our key collaborators namely Tony Williams (who was a Chartist) who remastered the album and Hayley Jenney whose design for the accompanying booklet acknowledges the original artwork of Chris Griffin whilst making definitive visual impact for the 21st Century.
